Update: Skyline Drive fire only 15% contained

Warren County Report reader Jennifer Sheen took this photo Saturday near Browntown, Va. as high winds helped spread fire to thousands of acres of Shenandoah National Park. The fire is only 15% contained according to the Park Service.

Greetings to our visitors from The Huffington Post.

Chief, Warren County Fire Dept.

All fires in Warren County this weekend are now under control with the exception of the Browntown/Smith Run fire. This fire is still burning in the Shenandoah National Park and is only 15% contained according to the Park Service. All local Fire and Rescue units have been released from the fireground, but are on a call back basis if needed. The Department of Forestry is still working with the Park Service in monitoring the fire lines on private land in the County. All of fires during the weekend are under investigation by the Department of Fire and Rescue and/or the Virginia Department of Forestry.

With the upcoming weather event, wildfire conditions should get better for the County, at least for a while. This is a good time to remind all citizens of the County that the State Fire Burn Law is in effect; meaning you cannot burn except after 4 PM and the fire must be out by 12 midnight. In Warren County, burning bans are also in effect for Blue Mountain and High Knob subdivisions year round; No burning permitted at all.

Any questions should be directed to the Department of Fire and Rescue at 540-636-3830.
