Public to weigh in on vehicle decals at Bedford meeting

Vehicle decals had their day in Bedford, City Manager Charles Kolakowski said, but their place as a taxation and enforcement tool appears headed for a final stop in Central Virginia on Tuesday.

The city is the last locality in the area to still hold onto decals, and officials say getting rid of them would ease burdens on city employees and appease citizens.

  1. Front Royal still has a requirement for vehicle decals. They need to remove the requirement. The stickers are allegedly to prove that we paid town taxes on the vehicles. If that is the truth, then they should hand us a sticker when the taxes are paid, as proof of payment, not charge us an additional fee to purchase the sticker. Better yet, stop the silly practice of charging us any money on a yearly basis just because we happen to own a vehicle and live within town limits.
